Winnipeg's CBD

Just a quick noob question. Does winnipeg have a central buisness disctict (I'd assume so), and if it does, which area would be defined as the CBD? Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it's centered around Portage and Main. Where all the highrises are. Also known as "downtown".

I would consider the CBD of Winnipeg's downtown to be in the area within:
Portage southwards
Main westwards
Broadway northwards
and Memorial eastwards.

It was desided that the primary business district move from what is now known as the Exchang District to this new area back in the 50's. Eventhough downtown is much larger than the CBD and the Exchange is full of business and if a significant part of downtown. it is no longer a part of modern day CBD.

I think that's right although I would add a patch north and east of P&M including the Wheat Board, Grain Exchange, Bank of Canada, Lombard Place, etc.

Yeah I would agree with that. I guess I was trying to make it too simplistic.
