St. John's CMA at 5 homicides on the year now after a murder-suicide in CBS.

5 I believe is a record for most in a year. All five have been in the past 4 months.

Interesting tidbit about Winnipeg homicides:

During a 19 day period from Oct 16 to Nov 4, Winnipeg recorded 11 Homicides.

During 7 20-day periods this year, Winnipeg did not record a single homicide. This includes a period of 34 days between July 13 and Aug 16, and a period of 38+ days from the last homicide from Nov 13.

The murder of the woman and two children last week would have taken Montreal to 21 or 22.

It's been a rough end of the year for domestic violence in Montreal.

There was an exchange of gunfire in Richmond Hill (suburban Toronto) this morning. No one was hurt and police has now surrounded a home in the city.

Do we have a dedicated thread for gun control yet? If not, it’s about time to start one.

Sounds like the Calgary shooting was targeted and likely gang related.

Ontario had 266 homicides last year, which is the most any province has ever had i think.

I never post in this thread, but there was an article in the paper today.

The Moncton CMA (pop 155,000) recorded four murders in the last year. There was a fifth death by police shooting but it sounds like a "suicide by cop" situation, so it probably doesn't count..........
