If this keeps up i don't doubt that Edmonton may surpass Toronto's homicide total this year for the first time ever.

5 of the people murdered in Edmonton this year have been from Quebec. By the end of the year there might be more Quebecers murdered in Edmonton then Quebec itself.

That's surprising/interesting. Just coincidence or some kind of gang/organized crime connection?

I think there was a case of infanticide the other week in the Montreal suburbs, but infanticide seems to be thought of differently than other types of homicide.

Infanticide is even worse than garden variety drug deal or robbery type murders as the victims are 100% blameless and defenceless.

We tend not to look at it that way but the reality is that infants are Canadian citizens with full rights under the law. An infant being killed represents a massive and catastrophic failure of the system.

This is the same dynamic that exists to varying degrees in every prairie city. People from other parts of Canada might have a hard time understanding this, but there is a significant populaton of drug-using transients and a socially troubled underclass with violent tendencies that you probably wouldn't see in a place like, say, Guelph.

That's bullshit.

Not a single one from Quebec... The only fancophone names are metis/native.

I was gonna say... that claim sounded really suspicious.

Especially since whenever a Québécois gets murdered outside the province it makes the headlines here.

Very shocking indeed.

"Court records show Butt faced three assault charges against his wife in the past, but all were dismissed."

This makes it less shocking, but not less sad.

Another suspicious death in Edmonton.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmont...eath-1.3555371

There was a homicide in Leduc County, which is in the Edmonton CMA.

We really need the death penalty in Canada for such a horrendous crime.

RIP little one.
