Looks like Foster recycled his WTC design.

Aside from the very basic massing, I see no similarity at all.

Nice design on the towers and the mall. I did have one question: On the mall renderings can someone explain to me why there are a bunch of American women casually dressed walking around? I feel like that is definitely not a scene I would expect to see if I were to actually visit that mall...

The UAE received almost 8 million tourists in 2009 , so i dont see why not

And they might not even be tourists.
Abu Dhabi (like Dubai) has a large expatriate community (including expatriates from Europe, Australia and North America).

^It could also be that being a firm not really from the area that their stock images they use in renderings led them down that path. We've all seen some pretty weird stuff in renderings (different cities as backdrops in some cases are the best).

I didn't really like the spacing of the towers around the site, but the towers are pretty cool. It will be nice to see some bigger sections of glazing as it's a little difficult to see the variations in the towers with just the concrete right now.

The towers aren't anything special imo but I love the base/mall, very unique.

beautiful towers and that mall looks magic.

and on the first rendering Adam2707 put up it looks pretty much like bamboo poles that have been cut off at an angle with a katana cool stuff.

I'm glad to see they are finally getting glassed. This is one all-around sleek project.

just saw a program on Discovery channel about this whole project and i must say im pretty amazed. foster has certantly pulled it off again. amazing job by the contractors on site to ofc

There are very many design difficulties with the tallest tower with the uneven top and a very sleek base with litte space for elevators.

the mounting for the window cleanign system and the solar panels wich cower the top is also amazing. the solar panels will generate enough energy for 5 thousand households according to the program

and there are also two umbrella shaped sections of steel rewbar connected to the core that work as vibration dampers that send the stress out into the outer support collums wich then sends it down.

And the work they put into the mall is redicilous very much of it is made in the old way and the outer surfaces is made of a glass concrete mix so that it can withstand the sandstorms better and all of it must be surface treated by hand after being hung up because the suface is to uneven and deep.
