Yes, you're right: that is the city's second city hall, built in 1886 and demolished in 1962. There was a plan to build another one in 1913 but history intervened...

I noticed a couple of years ago that that design is very similar to the town hall of Auckland, New Zealand, which opened in 1911.

In any case, the economy slumped in 1913-14 and then the war came, and the last great project the city could afford was the Aqueduct, which took precedence over the proposed city hall.

Yeah that's the famous "gingerbread house" city hall, demolished decades ago.

It isn't Stratford, Ontario...lol it's the original theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon UK.

Ok, yes a mistake in the photos that were posted. I am familiar with the existing Canadian one and the renovation project. This was in the LAC collection so didn't check closely enough, especially seeing Avon – an oversight. Thanks for the correction, will find another to replace it.
