Weren't permits issued to demolish the garage already?

This must be the other Cecil Baker condo tower in Old City that he referenced to recuse himself from the CDR vote for 1 Dock St:

https://www.phila.gov/media/20190618...r57Hcm4oiMlH8U

Looks like 19 story overbuild, 252 feet at 222 Walnut St.

Looks great! Don't quite know if that counts as a rendering though. We can definitely make a thread if Summers approves.

Do it! Make a thread!

I like it. We've been waiting awhile to see this condo tower. There are a lot of new towers coming east of Broad... finally!!!

I drove to Washington DC Sunday afternoon, and snapped this on Sunday.

Just came back to NJ few minutes ago after visiting my sister, and earlier on the way back, the skyline looks absolutely bonkers at night, and in a good way, going over that Girard Point Bridge. It was a humid mess in DC, but I heard NJ/PA had a moonsoon apparently. With the humidity, the skyline looked epic at night. I wish I could of taken a shot of it, but you Philly folks rightfully should be proud of your skyline and city.

After driving in Maryland (boo!), dealing with slow drivers (why do Maryland folks do 40 mph in a 55/65 mph zone???), it was very nice on I-95 when I entered Philly city limits as people know how to drive there (80-90 mph). My type of people!!!

I'll create both of the new threads in a few minutes. We should also have the CDR submissions today or tomorrow which would mean more threads!

Here is the application for 222 Walnut, and the Historical Commission recommends denial:

https://www.phila.gov/media/20190618...5ZVPn2QX-Ekk1o

I much preferred Scannapieco's proposal taking down the Ritz and leaving the historic buildings unaltered. I'm also very concerned with the quality of these towers. I like Astoban generally, but the facade at 2110 Walnut is the worst I've seen in new construction without metal bays. Flimsy paneling that literally looks nailed to the underbuilding material with many external nails. https://www.google.com/maps/place/21...7!4d-75.176442 I was sure it was some kind of preparation for something else to go on top of it when it first started going up, but it seems to be the final product. I hope the neighborhood association gets involved here. Not to kill the tower, but to demand better design as was done with the Laurel and the Harper.

A second Astoban/Baker project: an overbuild on the 1800 block of Chestnut.

McGrath, can you create a thread? I am again concerned about the quality of the exterior here and hope Rittenhouse association gets involved. If I was still a fulltime city resident in Rittenhouse, instead of temporarily being in Bala Cynwyd, I would get involved.

Astoban is killing it! A 14 floor addition to a 6 floors building - so 20 floors in total.

This one is a lot of blank walls, which I'm concerned about, but Mcgrath, make another thread!!

Since the beginning of this year, I've had to create over 10 new threads. It's been an awesome year already, and it's not even halfway done!

Seriously! We seem to be getting a ton of 150-350 foot buildings recently which (mostly) serve as great infill, and I love all of it.

Thank you Mcgrath!

Now if we could just start getting some more 400+ footers, that would be swell.
