In any event, I've typically thought of Brazil as a developing nation, while those old images of Sao Paulo convey the impression of prewar Los Angeles with its stately skyscrapers, palm trees and overall well-to-do appearance. I take it Brazil was more prosperous in the first half of the 20th century than it was during the second?

great example of explosive growth for a city. small trackside tent town in 1900 to full blown metro with many skyscrapers still being built at a ever going pace. from its tiny not so long ago beginnings until today. calgary has experienced a continuous pattern of growth. awesome.
