Looks like some of the Flasher property, next to the Pearl, is getting developed soon.

https://therivardreport.com/proposed...d-use-project/

“There are a lot of multifamily projects going on with no retail space or coffee shops,” Doege said. “If you live in a city, wouldn’t you like to have some retail spaces nearby and available? That was a focus of the neighborhood, and [PSW’s project] was welcomed versus just trying to put as many units on a piece of land as possible.”

What's the yellow crane for on the northeast side of Tobin? You can see it in the Frost northeast view.

I'm late responding to this but it was too funny not to acknowledge. Made me laugh out loud

Can confirm - it is on the CPS site. I'm assuming it's for their parking garage, as the main CPS crane is taller... and red.

Until proven otherwise, I'm going under the assumption that it's a crackhouse.

The property is owned by the SW School of Art, and the windows (well, the plywood over them) were decorated a few years ago for Luminaria. Since then, as one set of window art would fade, new art (Monopoly cards, etc) would appear to replace it. Unfortunately, right now, the windows have just been painted beige.

Current appearances aside, I've always liked this little building - it has these streamlined corners and canopy that you don't see much of in San Antonio.

Ok... the yellow crane is currently taking down the red tower crane. Boom is down. Photo from this morning can actually be seen in the Rivard Report article here: https://therivardreport.com/forbes-s...in-the-nation/

I like it too. When I was a little kid this building was some kind of hotel called the Lettuce Inn, iirc.

Proposed Retail Component Wins Community Support for Tobin Hill Mixed-Use Project

No rendering yet but the building will be condos and a height of 6 stories.

I like that little bldg too. They are building some townhomes across the side street next to it. Hopefully it will survive and be something cool.

It looks like it used to have a drive-thru. That barred up window was where they sold you the crack.

In the preliminary HDRC agenda is an item described as an eight-story residential building to be constructed on the southern block bordered by S. Presa, S. St. Mary's, and Nueva. This block is mostly parking, but there is a nice MCM one-story brick structure on one corner.

That’s the St John’s deal, which should already have a thread. Little office bldg stays.
