4th Annual Canadian Institute of Planners Great Places in Canada Contest

May 22nd, the 4th annual Great Places in Canada contest opened for nominations!

The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) is a collaborative national federation that advances professional planning excellence through the delivery of membership and public services in Canada and abroad. Working on behalf of planners and the planning profession, CIP serves as the national voice of Canada's planning community. In its capacity as the national professional institute and certification body for the planning profession in Canada.

Anyone can nominate a street, public place or neighbourhood to the contest and there are some great prizes if your nomination wins (including $500 via rail gift cards, Tim Horton's gift cards and more to be announced).

To nominate your place/street or neighbourhood please visit http://www.greatplacesincanada.ca. Nominations close August 19.
The 2013 winners were:
Historic Main Street - Lacombe, Alberta (best street)
Old South/Wortley Village - London, Ontario (best neighbourhood)
Saint John City Market - Saint John, New Brunswick (best public space)

2013 People's choice winners were:
Courthouse Square - Goderich, Ontario (best street)
Old South/Wortley Village - London, Ontario (best neighbourhood)
McAdam Train Station - McAdam, New Brunswick (best public space)

I'm happy to be one of the folks that is a Great Places in Canada ambassador for CIP - so I encourage you to nominate your great places! I was really honoured to be at the Lacombe plaque dedication ceremony outside their historic flat iron building. So let's get those nominations in and vote!
