If I could write an open letter to.........

I would tell him/them/she/it..........

I would think that most people that join forums, have something to say and are looking for an outlet for their thoughts. So, write a letter to express your thoughts and concerns.

The forum is yours....

Dear Mr Selinger

You and your parties "best before" due date has expired.
It is time to move off into the sunset and allow this province to move forward
rather than stagnate and move backwards.

Thank you

Lol.

Dear City of Regina,

Your lastest 5.8% increase to taxes is annoying when you continue to only fund 23% of improvement fees while putting 77% of it on residents for roads like Grant which are a hazard and a bus route.

Signed,

Moving to Alberta

Actually, I don't buy the hazzard argument. Because that stretch of road (Grant Drive) is so rough, drivers must slow to about 10-15kmph or risk bouncing off the inside roof of their vehicle - it may be one of the safest stretches of road in the city for kids and pedestrians because it is one big speed bump. (I'm kidding - but when was the last time you saw someone exceed the speed limit on that stretch?)

People lament that there are no amusement parks in Regina. Well, take either the 7 or 9 bus down Grant Drive sometime. The drivers usually go too fast for the conditions causing the riders to bounce up, down and side to side. Cheaper than going to Disney World/Land and more thrilling!

Dear City of Regina in 1951:

Please do not build a new subdivision over top of swamp land in the south end of the city and call it Whitmore Park. You're going to cause hundreds of years of cracked foundations, warped roadways, flooding problems and water main issues that will drive it's residents insane and cost them thousands in repairs.

Signed,
Every resident of Whitmore Park in the future

In all honesty I love Whitmore Park, the combination of huge lot sizes, convenient location and quiet streets makes it a perfect family neighbourhood, but what a scam they pulled back in the day.

I think you could date it 2010 and change Whitemore Park with Harbour Landing.

Dear City of Fort William in 1955:

Please do not build a new subdivision over top of Williams Bog in the west end of the city and call it Northwood Park. You're going to cause hundreds of years of cracked foundations, warped roadways, flooding problems and water main issues that will drive it's residents insane and cost them thousands in repairs.

Signed,
Every resident of Northwood Park in the future

Wow this seems to be a weird trend among us~

Dear people buying houses (esp. in the suburbs),

It is the largest investment you will likely ever make. Please don't make it based on the colour of the walls and the quality of the kitchen countertops.

Do some research, was your house built on a marsh, a filled in stream-bed, is it close to a highway, or on a collector, will you have to drive to get a loaf of bread? Is there a major roadway planned nearby? Have a look over the neighbours' fence, are they hoarders? Check into the taxes, if the developer promises that a new school will be built around the corner, check with the province. Please understand that the wheat field and lovely sunsets across the street will be gone as development proceeds, unless you bought next to a park.

In short, do your homework, buyer beware, and quit complaining.

Dear people buying houses (Especially in the suburbs):

That railway line was laid in 1885. Your house was built in 2013. Shut the fuck up.

Sincerely,

Everyone at City Council who has you listen to you bitch about the consequences of your bad decisions

^ Guys....seriously?

"Hey, don't bother complaining to your local governments that CN trains stop on the tracks for a half hour at a time blocking both Ravenhurst and the perimeter, because you chose to live in Transcona"...?? The city and province should be providing the necessary infrastructure to alleviate these issues in the first place. It's beyond ridiculous that trains can stop traffic on our city bypass for these periods of time. Or at all actually.

Is that what we are to tell people who move or immigrate to Manitoba as well? "Look buddy, you chose to live here so don't ever complain about high income and sales taxes, bad roads...etc. If you don't like it, then leave"...?

Railways do have the right of way.

The ONLY reason that trains have the right-of-way is because they don't have a steering wheel or reins. Consequently, can't turn.
