It's in the new Ward 5, with downtown Stoney Creek. Stoney Creek is considered everything east of the Red Hill to Winona nowadays, it has been for a while.

Pretty sure the South East parking lot at Eastgate was City of Stoney Creek. As is Centennial South of Queenston. It was a weird boundary as along Barton, Grays acts as the dividing line.

So a small part of this plan is in the original Stoney Creek.

Former city of Stoney Creek dumped waste at Taro prior to approvals
(Stoney Creek News, Richard Leitner, March 8 2018)

The former city of Stoney Creek is being fingered as the source of 180,500 cubic metres of pre-existing waste at the Taro industrial dump that is forcing the site’s owner to seek a licence amendment to boost its capacity by that amount.

Described as mostly brick and rubble, the waste was piled there before the upper Stoney Creek site received its licence from the Mike Harris government in 1996.

“Not to slam the old city of Stoney Creek. They were placing waste in a lot of places they shouldn’t,” Terrapure Environmental district manager Lorenzo Alfano told Taro’s community liaison committee on Monday.

He noted the former municipality also dumped waste — street sweepings and other debris, since removed — at 87 Acres Park in Vinemount back in the day.

Read it in full here.

Current Ward 9 and 10 councillors Doug Conley and Maria Pearson served on Stoney Creek council 1991-2000.

Former mayor Larry DiIanni served on Stoney Creek council 1982-2000, and has more recently become a lobbyist for Terrapure.

A development application from last year says it’s a 5-storey residential care facility with 181 units for both independant and assisted living.

of course a NIMBY association is against a mixed use 6 to 8 story development with ground floor commercial. They'd rather have 4 boarded up buildings.

Hamilton seeking input on plan to bring 80,000 people and jobs to Elfrida
(Stoney Creek News, Mike Pearson, Nov 2 2018)

The City of Hamilton is once again seeking public input on a contentious plan to bring 80,000 people and jobs to Elfrida.

The Elfrida growth area study covers roughly 1,250 hectares of mostly rural land, south and east of the corner of Rymal Road East and Upper Centennial Parkway.

Hamilton is holding a series of public meetings this month to discuss future communities, including Elfrida, which could be transformed into a community the size of Peterborough over the next three decades.

Elfrida has been identified as the preferred site for growth that cannot be accommodated within Hamilton’s current urban area.

Hamilton planning staff has estimated the city’s population will be 680,000 by 2031, with Elfrida taking on a significant portion of that growth.

"Ward 9 councillor-elect Brad Clark heard plenty of complaints about the Elfrida growth area study while knocking on doors in upper Stoney Creek".
So let me get this straight...suburb residents don't want new development in their area and don't want transit upgraded in the lower city to spur more development? Is the only thing they want is no one else to move in to the city?

Bingo...NIMBYs everywhere have the same goal: put up a great wall and prevent anyone else from coming.

Not sure if this has its own thread so I'll share it here for now.

560 Grays Road

City Planners are recommending that this project be approved and the parcel of land rezoned from medium to high density residential.

151 units, 6 storys

This was approved at planning committee today. Some cllrs unhappy with the zoning variance granted on height limit.

A good spot. The lot on that corner next to the cemetery has been empty for quite a while.

For a good chunk of time it was the staging area where the new trunk sewer was burrowed under the escarpment up centennial all the way down 56 into binbrook. Massive project.
