You know Philadelphia really is its own worst enemy. For example, the "gentleman's agreement," that no building can be taller than William Penn's hat, held us back for decades. We've made some great buildings in the last few years, but because they keep putting a statue of Billy Penn on top of our new “tallest,” the agreement is, actually, still in effect.

I don’t know. I just feel like this inability to move past the gentleman’s agreement plays into the worst elements of defeatism that permeate our city. I'm not sure what the answer is. Maybe putting replicas of One and Two Liberty place, The Mellon Bank Center, Three Logan Square, the FMC Tower, the G. Fred Dibona Building, the W Hotel, and One and Two Commerce Square on top on William Penn's head would send the right message.

Why do you hate baseball and football? I bet those ironworkers screwed up as it is, and that's why we are in our current predicament.

Wow; I drove into the city around 2am this morning and the Comcast Tech lantern looked normal to me; I wonder when they did it? I wonder if its the lantern or the entire spine with the lantern?

one of the best angels. gives the illusion that all the buildings are tightly knitted together as when you are walking the city blocks, as if one building sits next to the other and so on and so forth...

Furthermore, there were only ever allowed to be 2 casinos in the city and 2 casinos a Las Vegas stripe does not make.

All of that said, you are right, Philly does not always make itself the most friendly to development and to having a comprehensive city plan. So I hear ya there. The bigger argument is for a better business climate and cheaper building costs. That would easily get us all what we want
How do we all feel about Donald Trumps quote on philly today?
