I'm ashamed for them tbh. All I can hope is for huge density of 200' but I seriously don't see that happening other than Google's plan to build with the land they bought over the past 3 years.

Austin will definitely be an amazing change for me when I go there next year

It is what is in San Jose. The downtown skyline will always be "squatty" due to its close proximity to the SJC airport. It's less than 2 miles south of the runways and the northern landing approach is directly inline with the downtown area.

Also, downtown San Jose is quite quaint and historic. There are some great shopping streets that would make Austin jealous. I'd say it's much more pedestrian-friendly than most of Downtown austin.

San Jose seems like a suburb that benefitted from the San Francisco sprawl rather than a city unto itself. I consider it part of Greater San Francisco.

Anyway, we're getting off track.

Page posted some 3d printed models on their insta story. Here it is compared to 70 Rainey and 44 East:

This looks like a NE angle of the building:

I agree, I always get concerned by overly tall podiums. That is just ridiculous.

The podium is tall because it is only 1/4 block. It would be half as tall if it was 1/2 block.

I believe several stories of that podium is office space. Residential starts directly above the podium.

That would definitely be interesting. It's not that I hate the parking or not-parking element of it, just for the most part it looks weird and unbalanced to me. It's like a pencil with an extra long eraser. Just . . . kind of off.

Whatever goes on the old post office block needs to be a signature supertall, hopefully in the 900 to 1,050 foot range. It would make for a nice centerpiece with the tall cluster centrally located in the skyline overall.

Hasn’t it been established the FAA has issue with DT buildings over 850’?

I think it varies from place to place in downtown....at least the 850' thing was for 6xguad. maybe they'll change their minds for another block...

Love it! It's the best holiday tabletop game ever!

Are we missing the Molar, though? Maybe it's just hard to see behind the Republic.

PS. thanks for the good IG suggestions, y'all -- you've got my follows.
