A lovely evening. The moon is HUGE. Had a lovely chat with the uphill neighbour coming back from the superette. It’s the little things that keep me happy Checking out a new cafe in the Majestic with buddies in an hour or so.

EDIT: It was lovely. Had locally gathered chanterelle pasta. Simple but impeccable.

Tonight's low 18 in Ottawa.

I am sure some kind of blizzard is coming soon. I can feel it.

Fair enough... but it's literally the mildest weather station so you need to be very selective in order to find such cases. And even then, last time it happened was 21 years ago.

To be fair that weather station is much more representative of Victoria proper and what most residents of the area feel.

I’m guessing that if you really wanted to cherry pick for frost free winters Victoria Harbour and the Esquimalt weather stations would be even better.

20C and overcast today. Another awesome. Drove with the sunroof open tonight. It is still 18C at 1AM. Dewpoint is above 15C as well.

Low of 15C this morning.

The warmspot was Windsor, ON at 24.6C.

Warmest low was Vineland, ON at 18.4C. Now that is a low I can get behind at this time of the year.

28) Vancouver, BC - October 27th (-0.3C)

Kingston, ON
Montreal, QC
Charlottetown, PE
Halifax, NS
Sydney, NS
Just an FYI here are the last spring frost of the cities that remain:

Kingston, ON: May 18th
Montreal, QC: April 9th
Charlottetown, PE: May 23rd
Halifax, NS: May 23rd
Sydney, NS: May 30th

The difference is more than a month and half longer growing season. Just some perspective.

Montreal is now at 201 days growing season and considering Toronto and Vancouver had their run stopped at 196 and 197 days, it will have the longest growing season this year in the country.

Also funny Vancouver recorded a later spring frost (Apr 12th vs Apr 9th) than MTL and experienced a fall freeze earlier.

Looks like Sydney is the frontrunner to win this years freeze list. I believe they've won it previously too.

Currently 21C and sunny in Moncton at noontime. There is a listed humidex of 24.

I just finished doing some leaf blowing on the property, in shorts and a t-shirt.

The warm spot in Canada is currently Fredericton at 21.7C

High was 23 here yesterday. Put my shorts on one more time to walk the dog.

Overnight low of 16 - apparently the highest recorded for October 27.

13 and sunny today, so the warmth is gone - but still a nice fall day.

Cold front moves in starting tomorrow though. First single digit high of the year is predicted for tomorrow, and overnight flurries are in the forecast later in the week. Looking like our first freeze in Hamilton might be Monday night, with a low of 0 forecasted. If we miss it then, it may end up not coming until the middle of November looking at the 2-week forecast.

It’s officially that time of year when Lake Ontario is doing the heavy lifting in moderating temperatures. We always get nice warm, extended falls.. and pay for it with long, cold springs haha.

Aint that the truth!

Just got back from a hike with the dog, perfect hiking weather with brilliant sunshine and 4c. The crisp air helped while I was gasping for breath and sweating on the hike up to the top of the ridges.

We have a pretty nice Fall week, although a few degrees below normal, highs all week of 7c and sunshine.

I just love the dry aridness of a Ponderosa forest.

^ Awesome. You can almost feel the dryness through the photos.

Nice sunny day here, albeit a little gusty.

A few shots from Unionville.

Up to 20C at 10AM before the cold front arrived. Wasn't the abrupt temperature drop I was expecting. Still was 14C with full on sunshine at 3PM.

The raspberries are still going strong.

Roses are still blooming

Still some cherry tomatoes remain to be picked

Low of 18C this morning. Just incredible last night.

The warmspot was St. Stephan, NB at 26.3C. Absolutely nuts. It's 1.2C above the November provincial record with only 4 days away from that month.

Warmest low was Halifax (Dockyard), NS at 13.4C.

And there it goes.... what was very likely the last summer-like day in 2023 for us in Halifax. Our high on Bedford Basin yesterday was 19.7, our low was 7.0 at 8 am this morning. YHZ values were a high of 22 with a humidex of 26 and a low of 4.2.

Yes. We moved into our new condo in mid-August and I'm still thrilled by the new view. As a gardener I didn't want to leave the yard behind, but we were able to find a condo with a large outdoor area on which I plan to garden come spring. No doubt that there'll be some challenges with a high-rise garden but that'll be part of the fun.

Currently +5C and sunny in Moncton at 11 AM, going up to +8C this afternoon.

The high temperature yesterday was +24C with a humidex of 27. Tomorrow, the high is expected to be +2C with a wet snow/rain mix.

In what other country aside from Canada could such a thing be possible........
