I've been there a few times. Not bad or anything, nothing to write home about either. Personally enjoy earl's better.

Good, but pricey. Nice atmosphere, and there are usually a minimum of 4 girls to greet you at the front door.

The bar area has a retractable roof for the summer, and misters to keep you cool.

Two eateries for Kildonan Park

After sitting empty for almost five years, Peguis Pavilion at Kildonan Park is poised to house not one but two new restaurants.

Winnipeg's WOW Hospitality chain plans to open a regional-cuisine restaurant and a casual café in the city-owned pavilion, which last had a restaurant tenant in November 2008, when Partners Delicatessen closed.

Loved going here when I was younger, skating on the duck pond. Didn't realize it sat empty for so long.

I understand that Earls Pembina will be closing permanently in June. Notice has been given to all staff.

Hopefully it stays as real food and doesn't do a slow decline to Sysco supplied crap and then frozen hamburgers and french fries.

I wonder why it is closing. as some are speculating perhaps someone bought out their lease. Or perhaps the landlord, thinking the location is more valuable with the stadium opening has increased the rent?

It is a somewhat awkward location to get 'into and out of' but the patio there is very nice, and reasonably quiet despite overlooking Bishop Grandin.

Yes, I hope someone has bought out the lease, or 'wants it more' and they get moving on opening something there asap. My boss 'won't be too pleased' when he hears about this. Its his favorite nearby place to take visitors to the University for a beer and meal. I guess there is Tavern United, but the service there just fails every time we've been there (slow as heck).

If someone had some imagination and money it would seem like a great place to put up a taller mixed use building.

I also heard today that Earls Pembina will be closing down.

Does anyone know if Joey Restaurants is planning to open a third location in Winnipeg, perhaps in the downtown/ main area to compete with earls main?

Finally, just saw a new subway open with a taco del mar and a pita pit right by ikea, that would be the 5th subway in the linden woods area

I blame this on the stadium delays, moreso the overambitious project manager who thought he could deliver a 33,000 seat stadium in only 14 months.

why? Earls has been there long before the stadium ever started constructed. they didn't build it because the stadium.

I think there's more to this story, TBA soon.

I agree. This Earl's location has been around for years prior to the stadium even being a twinkle in the Bombers Organization's Eyes. I think there is more to this story that will be revealed farily soon.

I am constantly amazed at how many Subways are opening in Winnipeg and in every town across the country. How do they all stay in business?
