Yeah, '16 is the year that the "study" was to take place. As of November, '14, the ribbon cutting was to be during '21. Ah, we'll see what the next year or so will bring.

Hope they release some renderings or ideas to the public soon. I don't know if I will be able to wait!

Any word on New Leaf? Also any updated pics of the new buildings constructed south of the terminal?

It is an excellent move for WestWind, Pronto, Transwest Air and Express Air.

Will the tax payers save any money? Probably not. However it may make commercial flights into some of the smaller communities a bit more viable. Plus likely a few more charters.

Perhaps, . . . . but watch the $$$$ rise dramatically.

And, since when has the NDP been private enterprise-friendly? (Ah, that addlebrained Broten will say/do anything to get elected.)

The total cost of the service never enters the discussion on such things. These types of debates are all about optics and sound bites. Why get distracted with real world costs.

Does the city have plans to upgrade or widen the bridge off of Lewvan to the airport?

Plans, yes. Timeframe, probably not.

It's always a mess when multiple levels of government are involved in the decision making.

I still think that the double lane is unnecessary.

It sure does - based on pre-existing improvements there. BD is correct about when multi-levels of of governmental agencies are involved.

There is yet another building going up at the airport; it's likely a new Customs building. (The design still follows that retro, angled-roof motif.)

Presuming that you are talking about the Saskatoon airport, it's a Non-Passenger Vehicle Screening station. It is for the inspection of service vehicles entering the secure (air side) of the facility. It is very much like a Customs Border station, though. It's pretty much completed - closed on the sides but open on the ends.

I was speaking about Regina.

Air Canada and WestJet will do what they can to run them out of town. Besides that, the General Public has the jitters about New Leaf

As they should. I am certain Flair is a safe operator given they have been around for years. However Canada does not have a great track record as a country where new low cost airlines become successful. Usually when they fail there are people stranded and scrambling.

YQR wants a hotel connected to the terminal. It sounds like they have been approached by more than one proponent.

Yes, that is true; I was at YQR's AGM yesterday, and there are big plans on the horizon. The are expanding the main apron to the northwest - big time! (That always precedes a terminal expansion here.)

Great presentation overall!

I'm trying to think why a developer would want to be at Regina's airport.

There are no amenities there and downtown is 5-min away without traffic. I fully understand it for large centers but Regina seems like an unnecessary feature.

I was thinking the same thing and thinking of the dump hotel attached to Winnipeg's old terminal. No stop overs at YQR save the few mechanical or storm related issues. But then Winnipeg did build a new hotel on to their new terminal and there are hotels in Regina at grasslands which would pretty much qualify as the middle of nowhere as well. As long as its private money building the hotel.....have at it.
