Could it be more intense retaining walls to start excavation for the parking garage? You know, since the backfill is literally contaminated garbage holding back the river? Not sure how deep the bedrock is here, I always thought bayview station was the edge of the bay, but I think I've seen photos of the water reaching Wellington bridge, when the bridge was wooden.

Your correct, geoOttawa 1928 imagery shows the water reaching the very edge of the current Bayview station platform, then the current Trinity site was a rail yard

Here is the site in 1928.

I guess we'll have a pretty good idea of what's going on in the coming days. I will keep checking it out and documenting it!

Very cool to see. I assume that is Wellington that makes up the top of that triangle? So why/how did they reclaim all that shoreline?

Just watched the video on the Trinity website again. This this is really going to be a beast and arguably in a more prominent location than Icon. We really need quality materials here or it could end up a big white elephant visible from just about anywhere in the city.

I second that. The photos are great, and this is exactly the right place for speculation.

I say we organize a meetup on site and start digging ourselves to speed this one up before the frost settles in!

How many stories of underground parking is this project going to have?

Two floors of underground parking might not even hit bedrock in this location. Maybe that's why they are only going two floors under and three above. It could mean a very fast start to above grade construction considering the size of the project.

Most likely it’s because above grade parking costs about half as much to build as underground. You avoid it whenever you can. There’s a reason most US skyscrapers feature massive above ground garages, the parking ratios needed are so high that it would kill projects to put it underground.

The P2 level isn't even at the level of the train tracks adjacent, no? Seems as though the basement is at grade, ground floor is at Albert near the train station.

This saves having to decontaminate or otherwise move the glowing mass of garbage under the building?

Was the site not already cleaned up a few years ago?

I noticed yesterday that the Aecon drill and Regional Crane crane are now just south of South Keys station to drill for the Hunt Club bridge, so that pretty much confirms it.

It was also confirmed in the last Stage 2 construction update email.

So theoretically Trinity should be good to break ground whenever they are ready...
