man, can't wait to have cocktail in that bar.

meant to have a drink at the Fairmont when it opened, but not after those renderings/reviews from friends. But this is a different story. Love the brick, welcome to Austin ZaZa. Staycation coming up.

It took me a minute to notice the south of the river thing...but that view looks awesome! Hopefully it could inspire a developer to recreate it...actually south of the river!

I dunno, man . . . I like the idea of red brick in Austin, but very not sure about this execution. That first bar pic especially looks 70's in all the wrong ways. I might be wrong, and it might come off with more of a loft feel to it in person, but the webshot leaves a lot to be desired.

Has anyone noticed if they have reconstructed or at least started reconstruction of the old Gingerman building facade on the ground floor of Zaza yet?

I drove by there last night and from what I could tell, the old G Man facade was nowhere to be seen.

The area where they'll put that up is left blank at the moment so maybe it's the last thing they put up on the exterior.

Thanks! I was hoping that reconstructing the facade is still part of their design plans. Looks like it is.

A large artificial tree adorned with bright violet LEDs now shines from the top of the east end of the Hotel ZaZa building. A violet crown, you might say.

You know I've always thought we need another tower with a similar crown that complements Frost. I think it would work well with our skyline since the vast majority of buildings are flat tops. Some cities overdue pointed crowns but in our case, it would be a much needed addition and will put focus back on what should be the most iconic crown in the city.

Why I spelled over-do as overdue I cannot say. Probably auto spell.

I wish something exciting would happen with the old post office site. What we need is a truly world class tall tower there.

Me too. Seems like all the attention is happening everywhere else. The opos has been oddly out of the conversation. No rumors or speculation, or rumors of speculation. It may be snatched up by a developer before the end of this current wave of construction when acquiring unrestricted cvc parcels are hard to come by. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if something was in the works as we speak.
