These two parcels already have the completed street infrastructure since the tracks stay open behind them whereas most of the other parcels are waiting for new streets to be built above the tracks. Getting those new streets in place has a lot of funding and construction hurdles to overcome before the developer can even look for funding to build.

They are starting from the edges and working inward.

Honestly smart to build up around Castleberry Hill due to the activity there. Lots of $$$ spent there routinely and can easily make it cohesive with the stadiums & south downtown.

I love watching those cranes moving around while I'm walking to work from Castleberry.

Awesome shots, Julien. Immense amount of dirt moved around here. Is this the base to the central elevator shaft?

Wasting "film" but what the hell. I know boring and repetitive but you can always sue me for posting too many pics.

Nice progress on these; they'll definitely be open well before the world cup.

I believe it's the two towers in this article.

^Yep, it's the first two towers of Centennial Yards, directly across Centennial Olympic Park Drive from Mercedes Benz Stadium. An 18 story hotel, and 18 story apartments.

No-sequitur, but I really like the active rail line right here and in west midtown. Atlanta obviously doesn't have much in the way of water features sans some creeks and fountains, but the active train lines are pretty neat to watch go by and an interesting bit of infrastructure to be close to when you are dining or shopping in these areas. I think some others feel the same way.

They're loud and ugly. Very unpleasant to live next to.

I agree and disagree at the same time. I used to live in Lindberg and didn't mind the freight too much. Only when coupling was it annoying and loud. I felt like Marta was louder.

On the Ugly side, I have to disagree 100% on this one. I love freight trains, they're so cool to look at and watch.

The good news is occupants in these buildings will be several floors above the rail. So won't be as loud as apartments built right along rail like the one in Decatur.

As far as ugly, its a matter of opinion.
