That and only about 40% of the hockey fans in the Ottawa area are sens fans.

40% sens
30% Habs
25% Leafs
5% Boston/Detroit and others.

We didn't want to ask our ride to enter Kanata so we took the new O train.

It was great except the "shuttle" to the game still took 50 mins.

That's brutal. The fact the upper bowl is miles away from the lower bowl due to all those private boxes doesn't help the atmosphere either. The old Rexall building had a better atmosphere than the new building.

Oilers game at puck drop. I'm sure some more fans manged to show up, but this game had more than 2,000 unsold tickets, not to mention people who had tickets but didn't show. It's not Florida, but going in that direction.

That was apparently the first Oilers New Years win since 1985?!

That's quite a cold streak broken. 15 games or something.

Up 6-0, won 7-5... barely.

Sure enough $55 was printed on the face of the ticket.

I thought, how could uppers cost $55 at a Panthers game in 2009? At the same time, I seem to recall purples at the ACC being $45 as my co-worker had those season tix and I'd buy a pair every year from her.

Either the Panthers ticket lady gave me bad info or they were using psychological tactics to make you feel like you're getting a good deal.
That was probably part of dynamic ticket pricing. Many teams do it where the tickets are priced based on the visiting team. Toronto would be considered a premium opponent, thus the higher face value. But the Panthers were also known back then for deeply discounting tickets closer to game time. The thinking was they would rather get people in the door. Their new ownership a few years ago changed that because they found that people just waited until prices fell. The thinking that the product was worth a price and people would either pay it or not, but the team wasn't going to give it away. Similar to Ottawa not selling those upper level seats for cheap and instead chose to tarp them off.

Good point. It's a possibility.

Box seats last nights game....went for a pi*ss at puck drop and saw at least 2000 fans still sitting in Ford Hall savoring the remnants of the last of the 6 buck beers.....not an empty seat in the house......so yeah.....let's wait halfway thru the 1st before we declare an "empty house." Likewise for the suites..... The units around ours and including ours didn't fill up until the 2nd.....

As I said earlier, I'm sure more fans showed up after that pic, but when ticket sales are 2,000 tickets short, plus those who have bought tickets and didn't show up, you're going to get a lot of empty seats.

You know it's going to be Chicago, right?

Yesterday's WC in Dallas was really great and one of the better WCs, IMO.

A tremendously entertaining game with the ejection, penalty shot, the comeback, etc. The lead up with the players outfitted in classic western gear was funny as hell.

All around very entertaining from the weeks leading up to it to the very end.

The Flames snapped a horrible home losing streak last night against a super fun to watch Rangers team. 5 goals on the first 9 shots, including a rare 5 on 3 shorty, made for an interesting first period.

They are playing well right now. Big game tomorrow in Tampa. Somebody's streak is going to end.
