I took some video of the Parq's lighting feature last night. I'll try to upload.

Let's just say though that the NIMBYs likely won't be happy!

They seem to have a lot of work to do in a week.

The lighting feature was great.

As far as I could tell, the fins on the south side with lights on them were flashing all at once, spelling out the word p a r q in HUGE letters.

This will be great to see from the other side of false creek.

Some guy that works at Parq says there are still lots of unfinished areas inside:

While that feature was turned off when I went past the other night, I thought this shot of the interior was worth a grab.

Drove by today at sunset and they had the interior lights on - it looks finished inside. The outside is still a mess but maybe they can pull it off in five days?!

BTW I realized why they set that date for opening... not just Coldplay at BC Place, but also Golden Week for China.

I highly doubt a casino would not open on its advertised date. They will have it ready.

Hard to make out - just looks like flashes on the lighter part of the façade.
Thanks for posting.

So originally when a post here said the fins were LED, I was excited but after seeing the video now posted, I am sad to say that yes, this is only the visual building alarms being tested. So now when someone quotes something 'untrue, or even laughable, we will have to ask if this is a professional and educated statement, or just rumor and mistaken information.
Shame when I saw the video, it is most obviously alarm strobes.

Well the person who posted that is a different person from the person who posted the video, so maybe hold back on the pitchforks.

Yes, when I first saw this I thought it was a lighting feature, then I thought it was probably for the fire alarm system, and took a video anyways. I wasn't going to post it here until I saw another forumer mention the lights and that made me second guess myself, 'maybe that was the lighting feature'

Someone posted the sculpture with the tarp taken off. Mother bear and baby cub with some kind of shiny metallic finish.
