Wow, honestly sooner than I expected given the injuries to the team.

I appreciate what Babcock did in the early years of the rebuild. I think he was a great coach to have around when we were fielding a team of mostly rookies who needed to learn accountability and teamwork at the professional level. It's been clear for well over a year now though that the team has passed him by, and unwillingness to adapt to management's direction created some extreme dysfunction.

Now we just need the media and fans to not collectively lose their minds and call for the next head to roll when they don't immediately turn things around and go 10-0 under Keefe.

Nope, I haven't - wasn't the team good last year? Or are you really asking if I've watched the last 23 games or not? Blame the snot nosed kid Dubas...he's the one that has doomed this franchise....in a few years the Leafs are gonna be looking like the Kings - 2 heavy, long term contracts and 2 - thank God, are short, but still overpaid. That same "kid" dismantled you D - you got no one back there now...instead of getting bigger to play the Bruins - Dubas made you smaller- plain and simple. Leafs are way too heavy in salary and term to the punk kids Matthews, Marner, and Nylander they seem to have zero give a shit level right now. Babcock was not the problem in my opinion. This team lacks any gritty/checking line players and a very thin defense which are the main reasons they suck as usual the past 52 years.

Not only was Babcock not the issue but Dubas is even further from being the issue.

It can't be that neither was the issue since they are diametrically opposed in their approach. Dubas is building the team one way and Babock was pulling it in the opposite direction. Management from Shanahan down is obviously committed to the strategy employed so far, and it's easier to switch out a coach than it is to rebuild a team to fit Babcock's early 2000's approach.

Time will tell if it's the right move, but I'm actually excited to watch what someone with an open mind can do with the existing personnel.

It's fucking hard to win a cup. This idea that you can rebuild for a few years and you do things properly and develop talent and you're guaranteed a cup just because Chicago did it is disconnected from reality. St louis had some damn good teams between 2010-2014 that failed to go the distance. It wasnt until most thought they were in for a rebuild that everything came together for a miracle run. Like we were this good last year and we added piece x that was an upgrade over piece y so we should be that much better this year. Dont discount the human element involved in a game as dynamic and unpredictable as hockey.

I'm sure the math also changes every few years as other teams make attempts at doing the exact same thing.

I'm near positive that tanking is a great way of deflating the stats/value of high priced stars. What on Earth did Tampa accomplish last year? They would of been miles ahead if they were coached into tanking. It's a musical chairs league, winning and not winning a cup serves absolutely zero purpose.
