If Novare is involved, this is a done deal.

If it was to be built in Atlanta, construction would have start already.

Hope that was tongue in cheek, right? I don't see any 1000 foot residential towers going up anyplace but Chicago.

No, I didn't mean that. It's not under construction it is it? As we all know, entrepreneurial developers are the world's most shameless bluffers. Regardless of the city, personally I don't consider a project a done deal until it breaks above street level. Until then, it's all buzz.

In any event, in my previous post I simply wanted to make sure that pro-Atlanta slight to Nashville was tongue in cheek, given no one is building any 1000 foot apartment buildings there as far as a I know. Chicago is the only place with those bragging rights right now.

I suspect we'll find out soon enough whether Chicago has the stranglehold on the thousand-footer, as your brassy assertion would suggest (and I like Chicago).

And again, if Novare comes onboard, this is a dead cert.

I love this tower. And the crown is fantastic at least in the model. I hope they use high quality materials so it turns out as nice as the model indicates. I wish Calgary had the guts to build a 1000 footer this daring, rather than the boring boxy 500' slab twins we usually get.

I'm pulling for Calgary too, and was disappointed when they chopped The Bow from 810' to 786'. I could easily envision Calgary getting a supertall.

There is a definite similarity.

My latest information, and this was straight from the developers mouth, is that this Signature Tower will break ground late this month or in early August at the latest. The project is still slated to be completed in 2010.

"Brassy assertion"? It's "brassy" to state a fact that Chicago is the only place in the US with 1000' residential buildings under construction? Odd choice of words.

Nashville is booming I hear, and I like Signature Tower - it is very cool and hopefully it will be built - but it is still just a proposal for now. I would hold off on the cockiness.

BTW, I am not from Chicago.

That's too bad construction coud still be a few weeks away. What does the site look like? Will a lot of site/prep / demo work be needed before actual construction begins???

Excavation will take five months. They're going to dig a very deep hole.

The hole will be 110 feet. The top 30 feet is fill dirt as there was a multi-story building with parking garage there before. Tony has 100 contracts and he needs 140 more to achieve bank financing. Over the next 5-6 months he needs to secure at least 2 contracts per day to make his number. He hopes that when excavation begins , people will sign contracts once they are sure construction has begun.

I think this is the best way to do it, actually, if you can swing it.

Tony Girratana and Novarre have worked together for years. As for Novarre projects that Tony worked on, The Viridian and The Encore both in Nashville. They also worked on a project in Atlanta, I think Viewpoint?

But Novare has not been involved with Signature, to date, has it ?
