Well, Finch was supposed to open last year

The current estimate is September of this year, and Metrolinx staff seem to think it's doable.

I think so too, but we'll see. They'll announce the opening date three months ahead of time. If they actually remember to do so, we'll know by June if they meet their target.

Mississauga already plans to reintroduce the 104 Derry Express this year to connect to the Finch West LRT, and the budget for it and other Express routes has already been approved, so I assume the LRT will open this year.

For the Green Line, I see the budget is $4.6 billion but is only 18 km long. That seems pretty damn high. I know they are tunneling downtown but even still seems excessive.

How much do they expect the entire 40km route to cost?

Some testing and station progress along Line 2.

Station progress Line 1 East. They've done some very preliminary testing earlier this year, sending the first train in March.

I always thought the naysayers who proclaimed the Quebec City tramway project was dead were full of it.

Looks like they are going to put forward something very similar to the original plan.

Gatineau elected Maude Marquis-Bissonnette of Action Gatineau as their new Mayor. Maude lost the election in 2021 to France Belisle, who quit due to a "toxic environment, bullying and death threats". Can't speak to the death threats, but the "toxic environment" was just the majority of council not agreeing with her on a few key votes.

Maude, 35, is highly educated in urban planning and had 4 years experience as a City Councillor. She has been the tramway's biggest advocate since the former Mayor Maxime Pednaud-Jobin (also of Action Gatineau) decided not to run for re-election in 2021. She is the best chance to finally move forward with the final studies.

As you know I am skeptical of the Gatineau tramway actually happening, but if Maude pulls this off, I'll definitely yell BRAVO!
