Hello all. These are from 1/24/2015. This is looking west from the Frank Erwin Center.

Basically.. Red River is not going to open by end of January as originally planned. Pretty confident with that prediction. Ha ha ha. Giant holes.

It is that, isn't it. What's the approximate timeline for its demise, or is that even still a plan? ("even still", not to be confused with Stephen Stills)

Also, if it is to be removed and its functions moved elsewhere, would it then become available for more medically-related development? I presume so. Or maybe residential, since there is so much need for it in that area.

Yeah, I like it, too. I know it's a little dated compared to now days, but I still think it's unique. And it looks great lit up at night. It's one of those things I identify Austin with. I'll actually miss it when it goes. I don't feel the same way about Brackenridge for its architecture, and because of some bad memories there.

Here's a link to a pretty good TWC video of the project.

I'd be interested to know why the Red River Street realignment is taking so long. I mean first it was "by the end of 2014" and then it was "January 2015" but I mean I'd be willing to bet it won't open until April~May.

That's an awesome picture! I love the contrast.

You know it hasn't been mentioned much, probably because it's just above the Waterloo Park, but Waller Creek will go right through the heart of the medical school. I am interested if they plan to incorporate trails and pedestrian bridges and make the creek a focal point. If done well it could be a nice continuation of the Waller Coridoor though it wouldn't be constant level year around.

The flood plain looks like a non issue since these buildings will be right up along the creek.

Cluster of cranes as viewed from I-35 south of Riverside (2/21).

I'm curious as to why some of the cranes are so much taller than the eventual buildings? I suppose to accommodate sufficient clearance/overlaps with so many cranes in close proximity?
