Wanted to share a few updates from Uptown. Both Tulane and Loyola's new residential project have been moving quickly:

Tulane's new dorm (next to McAlister auditorium):

Loyola's new dorm (corner of Freret and Calhoun):

From what I see Tulane has been an invaluable partner/asset to the city. Can’t wait to see them further build their downtown campus over the next few years.

New permit filed for 1600 Magazine, one story commercial space. Looks like it will be restaurants. I'm surprised they aren't including apartments on upper levels.

Also, interesting proposal for 420 Celeste St./441 Nuns Street. Tearing down the one story storage business located directly next to the flood wall, river side of Tchoupitoulas.
Plans show a new build 4-story apartment building consisting of 80 mixed income units. If they can make a project work at that location, there is clearly demand for the River District apartments.

River District uploaded their full report.

There are numerous renderings for the Shell building about half way through. Looks really good. I like the rooftop amenity space, ground floor commercial, and park space.

Thanks for posting. I just looked through it and the updated renderings are amazing. If it comes out like this, or close to it, that would be a HUGE win for the area.

Side note, a good number of the comments left on the comment cards left me scratching my head.

Assuming they can actually get the project going, we should see infrastructure work extending convention center boulevard to S. peters, with extensions of Orange, Race, and Euterpe, starting this summer. Storm water is being handled by an underground retention basin below the River District Park, next to parcel 5, in the above rendering. So that should be an early project as well. The Shell building would be the first project, followed or accompanied by housing on Parcel 5 (next to the park). Housing will depend on state funding for work force housing, decision on that is in June.

Beautiful renderings of the Shell Tower. Have they decided on what they will do with the old Power Plant or is it still up in the air?

A bit of good news for a New Orleans based company: https://www.nola.com/news/business/i...ness-headlines

"PosiGen, a New Orleans company that specializes in marketing solar energy systems to lower-income households, announced Thursday an international firm has boosted its investment by $150 million.

That brings the total investment Brookfield Asset Management has made with PosiGen over the past year to $400 million.

...

PosiGen was founded in 2011 and has installed nearly 30,000 solar systems in 15 states.

...

Brookfield's investment will allow PosiGen to install solar systems in 30,000 to 40,000 additional homes, Healey said.

...

Connecticut Green Bank, the nation's first statewide green bank, renewed its commitment to PosiGen. A green bank uses innovative financing along with help from the private sector to speed up the transition to clean energy. The green bank's assistance is about $25 million, which will be used to underwrite loans for solar installations.

Connecticut is PosiGen's second-biggest market, behind Louisiana."

wish could have gotten in on Solar Panels many years ago like a friend of mine in Kenner. total cost was around $25k but with the programs they had at the time, she only had to go $5k out of pocket, she runs a hot tub year round and the a/c year round also, cold or not and her electric bill on a high month is $40, usually in the high $20 low $30 area

no plans to go downtown last night but with the recent storm, a wire burned off of a transformer on my street and im on generator power at the moment as Entergy sucks is estimating Sunday at 10pm to fix this little wire, so out the house I went

a little more with Zavier

back interstate side of 50Fore

name and crest installed on both side of the hotel

Canal smoking section takes a step back as the metal gates are removed

Palm trees up at the Convention Center/Poydras entrance

looks like a bit more paint and pour the walkway and it will be ready to open this month

when that entrance opens, the temp valet for the casino will be moving back next to the original valet spot by the new hotel until the hotel opens

Yeah I think at the time there was a 50% federal rebate and 20% state. I may have gotten the two switched but I'm pretty sure the overall rebate was 70%. I think there's still a federal rebate and the costs have come down significantly per kilowatt hour or whatever but it's not the big thing here that it was a few years ago.

Looks great - looks like it’s the home stretch. Have they started fixing up the streets in preparations for the Super Bowl?

ive only gone down Poydras so far and they have started working on a few spots. I try to avoid Canal street as there is a section they doing some building remodeling or something and people feel its ok to just park in the road forcing traffic to bottle neck.
