Yet Theo Fleury and Mogilny never got in this year the hall of fame is a joke the past few years especially with them inducting women players now every year who can't even fill arenas when Canada and the U.S. are not playing each other in a world championship or Olympic gold medal game.

Well, it is the hockey hall of fame and not the NHL hall of fame. Besides, Haley Wickenheiser is a better hockey player than Theo Fleury. Mogilny. He was a hell of a hockey player.

Don't worry, Alfredsson is an eventual shoo-in.

I don't blame you. Alfie should have been inducted by this point. There is very little separating him from someone like Sundin who was inducted in his first year of eligibility. Large market bias has existed for a long time.

In the case of Lowe, having friends in the right places, and winning 6 cups (which is a team accomplishment and should only factor into a player's resume if he is a major factor in the drive for the championship which isn't the case for Lowe) played the biggest roles.

Happy to see Doug Wilson make it! He should have been inducted over a decade ago. Norris winner, several top 10 Norris finishes and one of the top D-man in the 80s which had one of the deepest pools of HOF d-men in NHL history.

The NHL's silly mandate of having 4 male players inducted per year regardless of quality of candidates will see many fringe, suspect and outright undeserving individuals make the hall in the coming years.

Mogilny and Fleury are fringe candidates...Mogilny in particular was very inconsistent in the second half of his career which hurts his case. With that said I wouldn't have a problem with them being inducted given there are likely dozens of individuals in the hall who they were superior to.

With the recent change in mandatory inductions, it has become obvious the committee is trying to clean up some of the (mostly deserved) exclusions of the past ie. Carbonneau, Andreychuk, Lowe, Wilson. It would be nice if they recognized candidates who actual deserve induction over several of these suspect players...two that immediately come to mind are JC Tremblay and Pat Stapleton - two of the best d-men of the 60s and 70s, particularly Tremblay.

It's obvious that the HOF committee has a longstanding grudge against those players who left the NHL for better pay in the WHA as it's almost a certainty that both those d-men would been inducted in the hall by this point.

So Vancouver was dropped from the hub city "sweepstakes" last week despite having the best Covid situation of the 6 remaining cities.

BC's provincial health requirements were too stringent and the NHL backed off.

Yes. Better to choose a city that's a free for all. Great job NHL

Why would you presume the league has actual interest in that?

They're going to operate under the guise that it's more important to have teams be containable and isolated than be in a city with lower overall infection rates. Just pure coincidence of course that those cities are more favourable for Bettman. Actually, he probably would've love to have it be Florida and Vegas as the hubs if they'd been able to beat the NBA to the punch, and if Florida hadn't turned into a shitshow that can't be ignored.

EDM, TOR, LV and CHI appear to be the final considerations.

My money's on Las Vegas and Toronto. Once city in each conference. Would love to see Edmonton and Toronto, not just because they are Canadian, but because it would show that the NHL actually gives a shit about player and staff safety, along with rewarding markets that have had more success containing the virus.

Well if they gave the most shit about player and staff safety then they would go to Vancouver.

Edmonton vs. Vancouver, the difference probably isn't that dramatic compared to, say, Vegas.

I suspect Edmonton remains in the running because they have a new arena with direct access to a luxury hotel. Edmonton is probably a better option logistically compared to Vancouver.

If the NHL cared about player safety they should hold the department of player safety and NHLPA to higher standards when it comes to making the game safer on the ice, by actually suspending actions instead of injuries as they usually do. But that is another discussion.

As has been said, Canada's restrictions are going to make this difficult to choose a Canadian city and I really don't believe that Bettman actually has any interest in having the games in Canada.

LV is my pick.

Has everything going for it. lots a Covid and unprotected workers.

TO and Edmonton make the most sense if it is a health thing. but money will direct this choice.

Well, yeah. And not have different sets of rules for different teams and players.
