Them and LiUNA are pretty much the only developers that actually build in Hamilton. Unfortunately Vrancor is a real fly by night operation.

Why do Hamilton and KW developers use SRM? Absolute trash.

Nice to see a new style in Toronto condos. No gimmicky balconies or spandrel yay!

I don't mind the current design, but there's still time...

Hopefully the corner portion isn't cheap precast. Non-metallic black is hard to pull off well.

Damn, I got that wrong. I hope it doesn't take too long. It's a very handsome tower.

Weird, because of the lighting it looked bronze coloured to me. On closer inspection I see that it is black. I think it would be better bronze.

A couple updated renders of the Saint's podium posted on urbantoronto just befor Christmas. I like how the black brick compliments the limestone heritage building next to it.

Clashing podium and clumsy integration of pre-existing buildings on the site. Toronto does a lot of beautiful towers but so many of the bases are mediocre at best.

Apparently Ottawa is getting a new library, and it's ugly as sin.

The rendering suggests shadow box spandrel instead of the standard glossy plastic window wall spandrel.

That part of it does: https://goo.gl/maps/djKQj9M1KfAgWfsz9

Though it's only ever used for short turns, diversions, etc. There's no regular service on it.

How I see it is they designed the black brick building to blend in with the large warehouse buildings along that stretch of Spadina. The tower's colour plays into the red brick of the heritage building it rises from. It looks like we will be getting a wider sidewalk at that corner as well now with the podium counter levered over the the north west corner.I also appreciate the clear division between old and new with that gold box creating a border between the red and black brick. I've always found the proportions of that historic building a bit off and this actually makes it work visually now.

This is one of the better podiums in the area imo. Just my 2 cents.

And we all know how true renderings tend to be

I still prefer it over Shittyplace 100%. Personally I like it.
