Is October 29 the day the agreed to when the contracts were signed? If not, kind of strange to open the road on a Tuesday.

ReginaBypass team and MHI officials will be at the Co-operators Centre @evrazplacelive on Saturday from 11am to 1pm to discuss the new interchange at Hwy 1W and Pinkie Rd. Saskatchewan's first spaghetti bowl!

No idea if any one day is more traditional than others but Monday seems pretty popular.

Saturday might be more appropriate because that way people have 2 days to adjust before workday hits.

I'm not sure this will be much used by commuters.

Alright open it on Monday to (pleasantly) surprise commuters with the sudden drop in traffic then.

True but I think Monday is a popular day because it's the start of the work week and a new freeway (?) would be a pleasant surprise for commuters. More importantly, people are likely paying more attention to the news on a Monday than on a Saturday. The government would want to maximize the amount of exposure the event gets as most people would see it as a good news story. If a project ended up way over budget or was late then they'd probably have the opening late on a Friday afternoon.

Maybe they chose Tuesday as a more conservative date. Maybe they will open it Monday if they're as on time as they hope to be. We'll see in two weeks.

I actually think Tuesday is tentative and not official. They will wait for the forecast before making it official as there will be outdoor ceremonies. Also it would not be cool if there were weather related accidents on day one! They can bump it as late as Friday that way.

There are advertised signs along the Regina to Balgonie stretch indicating it will open on Oct 29. I doubt they will change that time frame now.

Just this morning on the radio all they would say was last week of Oct.

I personally wouldn't be surprised if it had a soft opening sooner, like Sunday or Monday.

I just drove from Costco to Arcola down that already open section of bypass and they appear to have removed all of the orange closed signs and are very ready to simply move the cones, in fact there was a car with an orange flashing domelight sitting there as if waiting for a phone call to start pulling cones. This 30 mins ago.
