Walking down Scarth street yesterday I noticed the "Leased" space next to the Press'd sandwich shop is now "For Lease". I read that a Garden Variety Cannabis store had planned to open up there.

I wonder if this Cannabis operation is going to lose their SLGA permit? They only have 2.5 months to be up and running to keep it.

Former Sears - 2nd Floor

I was at the casino this morning and just before I entered the pedway to the Cornwall Centre I noticed a sign advising that as of August 12th (Monday) access to the mall will only be from the main floor. In other words, you will have to go outside and cross street. This can only mean one thing: construction of some sort is about to take place on the 2nd floor of the former Sears store.

Has anyone heard anything new as to what this might be?

I hope it’s not going to be an office tenant.

In their initial design plan on the Cushman Wakefield proposal, there is the new entrance proposed on Hamilton Street to allow access to the second floor offices with easier access to and from. I hope they had some success getting retail interest.

It’s been updated. Yay Retail!!!!!

http://www.cushmanwakefieldregina.co...ugust-2019.pdf

Looks like 45,000 sqft space has been leased on the second floor with a large storage space it seems (Winners/Homesense?) and a 15,000 sqft and 2,300 sqft lease on the main floor.

The only rumor I've heard was Urban Planet which, if true, should annoy you all.

That 15,000 sq. feet on the first floor that's leased looks & feels a lot like Shoppers.

I thought they would be expanding to make their grocery section larger (from rumors before) into that empty space directly west next to the travel agency across from Sasktel BUT a 15,000 sqft shoppers would be nice there and then it would open up the current Shoppers spot to more retailers (clothing, body, cosmetic, books).

Goodlife Fitness would be a good large format tenant. And the interest from past (before H&M solidified their 2 floor space) of Forever 21 and Victoria’s Secret being interested in the property could come back into play.

I am surprised LUSH still doesn’t have a location in Regina at the Cornwall Centre.

Could be - that was purely speculation on my part. I had heard rumours though that Shoppers wants street access from the mall.

Couldn’t they accomplish that now in the new 15,000 sq ft main floor CRU?

I really do not like the office idea. Also in the Cushman render they show the corner main floor being bricked in. Clearly that was intended to be opened up as glass and entrances one day. This would make Sask Drive even worse, if that is possible.

Edit, I was looking at the wrong corner. They do not show Hamilton and Sask Dr. clearly.

And that corner would be a great entrance for Shoppers or even a new Mall Entrance.

So this is just me thinking out loud, but how much time do you think is left on SGLA's lease in their space in the NCO building? This office location with a skywalk to the Casino would sure be convenient.

Remember that SLGA is not the owner of the Casino. It is merely the regulator. The owner is SGC.

Not sure if it was mentioned but the addition to Costco for their liquor store appears to be under construction on the north side of the building (not sure where their garden centre will go now). Also, they now have self-checkouts inside, which would be handy if you somehow manage to only pick up a handful of items.

Well, it's about time for the self-checkout lanes. I don't usually buy too many things when I am in Costco, so this will be a feature that I will use most of the time just because it will be (hopefully) faster than standing in line behind full carts

It was pretty busy when I went, yet the self-checkout went pretty smoothly. Though I’m not sure everyone knew they were an option.

According to a post I just read on Twitter, new grocery store coming to 4440 Albert Street and the accompanying photo looks like the old location for The Nest/Pasta Prima. Anyone else heard about this? That's not a big space. What kind of specialty grocery would be going in there?
