Bet they are wishing it was 1,300 ft now to stand amongst the competition.

I don't think it was ever 1,300 ft.

Barnett amassed enough air rights to conceivable go higher, but he's likely using them for 123 West 57th.

The original proposal consisted of two Nouvel towers on the block; I think both lower than One57. I'm guessing the second Nouvel tower from the original proposal would have been on the 123 W.57 site.

They also had a 1,300 version of the existing tower planned back in 2007.

I like the built tower, but a 1,300 ft. version would have been even better. I think the problem is that this tower was built a bit too soon. If Barnett waited a year or so later, may have built the taller version, but the thing is that this tower was conceived in the height of the recession.

One57 went through many revisions including this 1,300+ foot plan from 2007

Nevermind. A closer look reveals that is steinway itself. That's how you put up a render Barnett.

^My God is right. That's essentially a life-sized rendering. Incredible. The development team is obviously proud of this beauty.

as they should be. JDS saw the oppurtunity and took it. SHoP nailed it out of the park. I look forward to the reveals of their secretive high line, Downtown Manhattan, and Downtown Brooklyn projects.

Haha, good one.

Stern: "Alright boys, put up this 12-story rendering on 57th!"

Barnett: "I can't find the duct tape -- just forget about the schematics..."

Rightly so. A masterpiece deserves a 12 floor rendering.

Also, we need a statue of Barnett, our NYC Lord.

It just looks so good ... one of the few buildings in the world which is literally flawless. The height, cladding, aesthetics ... just perfect.
