Asheville was great. Small city, vibrant art community, mountain setting, some incredible pre-war gems, a little snow, and of course - the largest house in the U.S.

Despite the amusement park feeling of getting to the Biltmore, the house is absolutely amazing. At the moment I happen to be designing two French-styled houses (albeit much, much smaller) so the estate was quite inspiring. Lots of fun and a totally necessary part of any visit to the city.

We stayed at a great little B&B (The White Gate Inn) that turned out to be one of the highlights of the entire trip. And in true Asheville fashion, my fiancee determined that our room must be haunted due to the door opening by itself in the middle of the night to the outside blowing snow (I disagree by noting that the door strike was loose, but she still insists!)

Wonderful set plinko. I really like Asheville. It kinda reminds me of Ithaca (except it's bigger and has more talls, has less snow and no gorges bisecting the city ), but there are a ton of old gems. I'm gonna have to get to the Biltmore one of these days. Thanks for the tour.

Nice pics. Especially the one with the chair.

I think you went to Asheville as a "Tourist".

Asheville is awesome. I've only been there once, but I loved it. Great photos!

It's funny, but as I was looking at this I was thinking that it looked like Ithaca, too. Looks like this town has some good bones!

Not that you can really tell from the pics, but there's plenty-o-hippies in both places.

Wonderful pics! Thanks for posting!
Asheville is one of my favorite cities! I was there the weekend before Thanksgiving and already I am itching to go again.
Love the photos of Biltmore too!

Fantatic shots and love that you show only the small details of the Vanderbuilt Mansion/Castle! Very cool!
