Oh come on. OMP? I can't think of a single thing about OMP that is better than Trump. OMP is a nice building, but this is the sort of over-the-top hate of Trump that makes the haters seem ridiculous.

Naw it's cool, I guess now that we are in the midst of transfer floor construction and things are seemingly slow.

Speaking of Trump:

Relevant article from the Wall Street Journal. Thought it could use some discussion here as well.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB119517867398895020.html

Excerpt: "Even the Trump name isn't bigger than the calamitous condo market. Donald Trump's reputation as a real-estate developer could take a hit as some condominium projects emblazoned with his famous name run into trouble. At Trump Tower Chicago, a hotel and condo project set to be the second tallest building in the city after the Sears Tower, 30% of the 825 units remain unsold as the condo market there slows."

The article itself is mroe relevent to Trump Tampa, but our baby is thrown in there in the pot with failing projects. Just thought that was interesting.

I think Trump is pretty close to break even in Chicago, I think thats pretty good considering it still has a year or so to top out. I'm sure Chicago is not high on his list of concerns right now.

Anyway, although this building isn't the "greatest" architecturally. It is the first building that really got me interested in skyscrapers. I have always loved them, but until this supertall I wasn't quite aware of my surroundings so to speak, I was just amazed with tall things up until this. This building will have a special place in my heart becasue of what it has taught me and allowed me to learn about construction. So I admit , it isnt the best looking, but it is already iconic to me not becasue of how it looks, but becasue, it is the first generation of a new breed of supertalls in Chicago, and I am proud to say I followed it since the beginning.

All you have to do is get the images URL. Do this by right clicking the image and click Properties. A dialog box will pop up and show the "Address (url)". Copy and paste and your good to go!

These are tate64's. Thank you.

I love when the sky is gray and this thing reflects that silver color. I find this building to be quite beautiful when "chromed out."

There is a huge lobby on the SW corner of the first floor above the first setback that was illuminated tonight. I don't know if tonight was the first night, but it's the first I've seen it. It's a massive, double-height room with a prominent circular ceiling feature, and all of this is very visible both from Wacker as well as from other vantage points.

I didn't have time to look at it carefully but it looked mighty snazzy and sure animated the building, giving an idea of what it will be like once it's a living, breathing mini-city.

Looking forward to a photo of this being posted.

Trump's hotel opening may be delayed
With 'soft' launch two weeks away, city hasn't yet issued necessary permit

By Kathy Bergen | Tribune staff reporter
7:25 PM CST, November 19, 2007

Developer Donald Trump is running into one tough customer as he races to get his riverside luxury hotel opened by Dec. 3, as originally promised.

With only two weeks to go, Chicago's Department of Buildings has not yet issued the necessary occupancy permit for the 339-room Trump International Hotel & Tower at Wabash and the Chicago River, which Trump wants to open in phases over the next few months.............................

more like, 1960s, 1960s, 2000s

though IBM was technically completed in the early 1970s, the design was completed by mies in the 1960s. sadly, he did not live long enough to see the tower finished.
