I'm guessing the one not downtown is Metis Fed at Roxy Lanes?

I'm placing my bet on 30ish stories downtown. Maybe near Graham?

Last time I checked ,up highway 97 Kelowna has 20 or so buildings considered as “ high rise “ and Winnipeg has 188 and counting with Sutton starting up , Colony 21 floors , Donald and St Mary (14) plus Stradbrook by Main under construction ( 15 floors ) and Align on Pembina ( 18 floors ) beside the Arc , so not exactly nothing plus the 3 rumoured ones from True Vike .

2024 the summer of 200 in terms of announcements? Wouldn't that be cool. Once the utilities are in I bet we'll see some big ones from Southwood Circle.

Also, the St Charles plot thickens, Zaifman has announced plans for a 10 sorry next door on the parking lot. While saying the hotel is on the back burner. Waiting for a handout is the most likely scenario. That said, the (as of yet unfunded) 10 story looks pretty cool, some serious Chicago style vibes, if the picture is accurate.

This guy is all over the place. He tells the Free Press one thing and then a day later he changes his mind and pulls this brand new plan out of his pocket for CBC. I'm with Cindy Tugwell on this one - nothing to see here...

Chicago Style if they built with painted styrofoam. It’s showing EIFS for everything except the bottom three floors on the front facade.

No real architect would write ‘Gillis Quarries Limestone’. Must’ve been drawn by a draftsman.

Every quasi developer dusting off their old half baked proposal hoping HAF will be the gravy train to pay for it. Going to be some sad developers.

Ah, I didn't realize that's what that means, still learning these acronyms haha.

Is EIFS what was used to reclad the former Best Western on York and Donald? Painted styrofoam describes that crap perfectly. Chunks of the white stuff have been escaping from the worksite since last summer.

That shit was gnarly. Pounds of micro plastics getting into the sewers. Yuck. Is that really all it is is painted styrofoam? What's the benefit of using something so shitty? Purely because it's cheap or are there other reasons?

Maybe it's becoming popular because Mike Holmes uses it on his show?

Exterior insulation and finishing system. EIFS. (Pronounced eefus) It’s troweled on but it’s not much more than thick paint on styrofoam. It’s very very cheap. Most strip malls use it. It’s popular for building renovation because you can just stick it to the outside wall.

The exchange district needs strong design bylaws. It’s too important to let half-assed projects happen. Especially at a scale like ten storeys. If it isn’t skillful design, good materials and a strong ground level, it shouldn’t be allowed. I’d rather have nothing than a mailed-in design.

I'm excited to hear about all these potential new builds, but are we going to ignore all the empty buildings that exist in downtown and surrounding area? there's over 2 dozen building for sale right now for $2mil ++ and that doesnt includes the building that are for lease. the shiny new toy doesnt always solve the issues
