Why are there so many awkwardly funny guys from Canada?

The comic timing on these guys is just masterful. Doesn't matter what they say, it'll be funny. It's the timing and delivery. Their body language is impeccably funny too.

Jay Baruchel in She's Out of My League saying "Ye olde intermission" gets me every time.

Canada seems to have cornered the market on producing droll cultural dweebs. They have likely sprung forth from growing up in a country that is in a perpetual state of wedgie at the hands of its next-door neighbour.

this was being discussed on the radio on my commute home today. The one guest said this could be an issue for renters in Canada and said as the law is there is no reason for non-resident landlords to bother to pay tax on their properties in Canada and said it's financially in their best interest to not pay the tax and apparently no penalty on themif they don't as that falls onto the occupant aka the renter.

So one should really be aware of who and where their landlord lives etc. And he suggested renters deal with rentals that have a property management company as if the owner fails to pay the taxes the company in charge is on the hook.

Montreal tenant forced to pay his landlord’s taxes offers advice to other renters

David Siscoe has some advice for fellow renters across the country: get proof that your landlord is paying their taxes, or at least make sure you’ve got a property manager who’s responsible.

Mr. Siscoe is the Montreal tenant who was audited and assessed by Canada Revenue Agency in 2018 and ordered to pay six years’ worth of his non-resident landlord’s withholding taxes, as reported recently by the Globe and Mail. Mr. Siscoe says he did not know his landlady was a non-resident.

He also didn’t know that tenants renting from a non-resident are required to withhold and remit 25 per cent of their rent to CRA each month, unless they have a property manager doing it for them, or if the non-resident has made alternate arrangements to pay their taxes.

Always loved this quirky video movie. Met John Gray and fanboyed, the one and only time in my career. Eric Peterson in younger days collabs with Gray again after Billy Bishop.

That was a nice cover.
Agreed. If Chilliwack were American, they would likely be world famous.

Cancon produced a hell of a lot of good Canadian shit in the 70s-80s.

So I have spent my entire free time since January drawing and animating this little cartoon.

Every senseless death in cinema deserves a backstory, a tragic backstory! The Pepsi Guy from Terminator 2! (T2 is directed by James Cameron, a Canadian, and I'm a Canadian, and this is entertainment, so there is my claim to being on topic!)

And some stills from the animation for fun! Lots of details in the background.

Pepsi2 by Ian, on Flickr

I'm not an artist (that's for sure!) but I've always enjoyed doodling.

I love these. Especially the little details (e.g., the Time magazine cover; the headstones).

Tonight's internet rabbit-hole trip is going to include your videos!

Agree completely. Some folks like to ridicule Cancon (there was a funny website along those lines called something-or-other/Cheesetastic), and that is their prerogative, but some of my favourite music is, in particular, 1980s Cancon.

Thank you! I'm happy that you guys enjoyed it and spotted some of the Easter eggs! I also hope you enjoyed the deep dive into the channel... some of the videos are better than others...

I got three more animations currently storyboarded, but they each take about 3 to 4 months to make, so the next one wont be out until early fall

[QUOTE=elly63;10200493]Jeremy Taggart (Our Lady Peace), Ed Robertson (Bare Naked Ladies), Ryan Gullen (Sheepdogs), Terra Lightfoot and Robin Hatch take on Fly at Night by Chilliwack in this episode of Canadian Classics.

Thanks for that. Great cover band on a great song. Ed definitely sounding like Neil Young's son .... maybe do a DNA test to be sure.

This weekend an unknown soldier will be repatriated from France to be interred at our National War Memorial. The refurbishment of the memorial site, including the addition of the Tomb of the Unknown Solider, should be complete by our Memorial Day, July 1.

Canadian cover version of a American band's hit (and I think DH & JO were under-rated, despite their successes on "the charts")
