Tokyo: Catch a Hot One

I've been trying to post my backlog of photos to SSP these days. These photos of Tokyo were taken back in 2018 during an insanely hot week in July. Everyday, I came back to the hotel a soaking wet mess.

Was it worth it? Of course it was.

Thanks for staying until the end.

Nice pictures!

Do you happen to know what that tall skyscraper with the metal netting stuff and circular cutout of it near the top is?

Damn these are good. Both subject and capture.

I *love* the one with the yellow interior and blue outside. What a perfect desktop background!

And my god, the transit 😍😍😍

That is the Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower, which seems to be one of the few attractive/unique skyscrapers in the city!

Walked A LOT of those streets and been to ^^Albatross. Kabuchiko is a bit of a gongshow, but the Golden Gai is super cool to explore; especially the blatant 'no foreigners' signs.

You really captured the day to day essence and character of the Tokyo people in this that most probably don't see given the typical Shibuya, Harajuku or Ginza shots.

Boss shot of the City Hall.

Did you ever to the Park Hyatt piano bar (Lost in Translation)?

It's also a vertical 'college' which is super cool and if I recall correctly only accessible from the subterranean floors.

Cool tour, looks like an interesting place. One thing I have to ask, are Japanese getting fatter? Now of course not even close to the level of Americans, but I noticed I see more thicker looking folks in this threads than what I’m used to seeing among Japanese.

this wonderful collection captures why I love Tokyo. I could live there. What an incredible city.

I have a ton of photos of Tokyo from 2016 that I never got around to posting... I sometimes wonder how they're doing, wherever they are on my hard drive.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

haunted, post 'em, man.

ChrisLA, I think the entire world is trending fatter these days, but the Japanese, by and large, still seem to be some of the slimmest I've seen.

Cold, the City Hall shot was taken from my hotel room window. Just the perfect placement.

Cirrus, mass transit is a such major part of Tokyo's identity. I didn't realize how many of my pictures focused on trains until you mentioned it.

Amazing, it’s not NY & it’s not Paris it’s not a European city yet one of the greatest cities in the Western (free world) sphere of influence. Density even more insane than NY crowned with the Imperial Palace grounds is a straight from a tourists guide book. Tokyo is so much more it can be comparable to other great cities but it’s Tokyo man the list of things to like is a mile long.

My sister is in Japan right now, Tokyo, Kansai & Sapporo. A trip with her MSU crew though I think she’s really missing out on Seoul but she wanted to get a board & do some shredding in Hokkaido, which I can certainly respect. Bit jealous but hey that’s life gotta make it happen, definitely a place I want to experience.

Nice photography skills, eh.
Everything is well framed and it's not an easy thing to shoot people like you do.
You must be fast!
