Houston-based Moody National Cos. is developing a new hotel near NRG Stadium and just minutes away from the Texas Medical Center.
A 182-key Residence Inn will break ground in the next six months at 7807 Kirby Dr., a Moody National Cos. representative told the Houston Business Journal. A completion date hasn't been finalized.
Moody hasn't selected a general contractor yet, but the company has narrowed it down to two or three contractors, the rep said. Costs associated with the buildout weren't disclosed, but a building permit indicates the hotel will cost $31.5 million. The hotel will be just a five-minute walk away from another Residence Inn at 7710 S. Main St.

Houston-based Moody National Cos. has reached a construction milestone with the topping out of the 16-story Residence Inn Medical Center near NRG Stadium.
Seven months after breaking ground, Arch-Con Construction reached final height on the hotel, which is on target to open in February in time for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo next year. The hotel is at 7807 Kirby, just south of Main Street, around the corner from another Residence Inn which is expected to remain open.
"Being so close to the Texas Medical Center makes it a second home for many people and their families who travel to Houston for treatment," Moody National Cos. CEO Brett Moody said in an announcement.
Moody National Hospitality Management will manage the 182-room hotel, which will have an indoor pool, fitness workout room and kitchens and appliances in every room. Guest rooms will be on floors 3-16, with the second floor housing four meeting/conference rooms. The project also includes a 70,000-square-foot parking garage.
