NEW YORK: canyons & boxes of Midtown (1)

Downtown Manhattan has its classic canyons, with the large, glass boxes
thrown in. Midtown has its share of classic canyons as well. But in Midtown,
you also get a far greater number (than Downtown) of the loved/hated glass
box and other "boxy" type buildings. And for density, it probably beats the
closeness of Downtown, or at least comes close. Here's a small
sampling, the area north of Grand Central.

Nothing fancy here. Just plain skyscraper goodness....

Because there's never enough in the canyons, the city always seems to be adding more. Below are some photos I posted in the BofA construction thread...a sample from the 6th Ave canyon...

Great thread! I've been looking at your posts in this section and it's really making me want to go to New York again (I was there in January).

Now, a couple of tall organic towers in the midst of those canyons would be great.

Organic towers in New York. There is a greater chance of people being able to breathe under water.

Well come on back, its open year 'round...
This time there'll be an extra spire or two to look at.
