Metro violence: Timeline of recent incidents
  • April 22: A deadly stabbing on the B-line in Universal City.
  • May 7: A security guard was stabbed and a suspect was shot and killed in East Hollywood.
  • May 13: A fight on a Metro bus led to a stabbing in Glendale.
  • May 13: A woman was stabbed at a Metro station in South LA.
  • May 14: A bus passenger was beaten and robbed in Encino.
  • May 17: A Metro bus passenger was shot and killed in Commerce.
  • May 21: A Metro bus passenger was stabbed in Lynwood.

Not wishing to further hijack this photo thread... but the unfortunate reality is that there is a problem right now with violence on the Metro system that needs to be addressed.
On average, passengers take some 967,548 weekday trips on Metro; that falls to 675,000 riders on Saturdays and 555,000 on Sundays. Add up all of the trips taken over the 30 days included in your completely gratuitous crime list, divide by those seven crimes, and the serious crime rate is going to be pretty low. This is all about the perception of a post-apocalyptic Metro, fed by a media that wants profit from building that perception--and you are also feeding it.

I'm sorry to keep distracting from the photos in this thread, but it's being implied that I'm gaslighting people here and I just don't believe that to be the case. I mean, here's words from our own Mayor, Karen Bass:

https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/l...-safe/3413372/

Mayor Bass says she no longer thinks LA's Metro system is safe

Quote:
In a significant shift, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass publicly acknowledged Wednesday that she did not think the city’s Metro system is safe.

Just last month, she touted LA’s public transit system declaring “the Metro is safe” while celebrating an increase in ridership.

When asked Wednesday whether she still thought riding Metro was safe, she responded she did “not feel the same way.”
People are welcome to feel however they wish to feel, but Metro's issues are not just being propagated by the media and a few forumers. I've ridden Metro many many times and am a big fan of public transit. Trust me, I want it to be successful as much as anyone else. Successful public transit is essential to our metropolitan area now and in the future.

So did NYC's Mayor and they called the National Guard, which is much worse.

But I dont see people coming into NYC photo threads talking about their crime.
I could find far more news articles on NYC subway crime then you mentioned. Its not even close.

That one poster does it any chance he/she gets and I have no idea how its allowed.

I'm done. Just felt the need to defend myself. It seems to be the nature of these forums that one can easily fall into unintended arguments. I apologize to the OP. If a Mod wants to delete all the discussion that doesn't pertain to the photos it would be understandable.
