I think the mainstream media gave less publicity because there were not many moral policing cases by 'communal forces'. Anyone is welcome to prove it wrong by adequate data.

It is interesting to find out what are the moral policing cases reported by media in year 2018.
The year 2018 itself started with a bad case of 'Immoral Governance' by the state government itself.

Sometimes 'secular forces' and sometimes 'communal forces' are having upper hand in moral policing war zone. What we should see is overall by adding up all previous years it is balanced fight. Don't dig deep into history to know who started moral policing? Every tribe in history has tried to protect itself from outsiders influence including still existent Jarawa of Andaman. Religious behaviour are just offshoot of tribal behaviour to prove that they are supreme & their God is supreme! For that matter even liberal tribes, rationlist tribes and every other kind of modern tribes exhibit same behaviour but means may be different as they have plenty of resources (you can call these tribes by Karl Marx terminology as bourgeoisie class because they have better means). Those who don't have any other means to exhibit their anger use manual force. There is also intellectuals tribe to earn their living classifying moral police as 'criminals' or 'religious' depending upon whether 'communal forces' or 'secular forces' carried out moral policing strikes! What all types of tribes we have!
There was all three communities with their political leaders fighting to name a road after their community icons. A community wanted the road to be named after a bank's founder. And then there was protest for the same bank merger with a bigger bank. All for a bank which ditched Tulunadu & shifted its head office to the parched city a long back along with training & ITES jobs. While nationalizing these banks the politicians told us it is to help poor but in reality the politicians helped business men like Vijaya Mallya, Nirav Modi & Mehul Choksi. No scheme was formed to help poor through banks. I doubt whether even recently introduced Mudra scheme is helping poor like pakodawals or chaiwalas.
2018 year ended with a slightly better news.

Real Estate Mafia of the parched city wants things to be kept polarized so that Mangaluru will remain drowned in communal struggles & not emerge as challenger to their business & threat to their property reserve in & around the purched city. The politicians helping the real estate mafia. That is it!

There used to be a murder every month on the ways to IT/BT offices of the parched city. But the union government forced people from all over the state and the country to move to this city by opening research institutes one after another ignoring criminal activities in this city. It was these criminals standing behind real estate mafia along with criminal politicians who had hoarded enough benami properties in this city ensured only this city is developed in Karnataka. You know who encroached Byrasandra lake & parched the parched city further? The real estate mafia even forced banks of Tulunadu to move their headoffices, training & ITES facilties to this city.
Why didn't linguistic chauvanism stop them from opening IT/BT units in the parched city? IT/BT developments didn't stop because of Cauvery riots. When any matiny star died crazy fans used to throw stones on IT/BT units forcing them to close but they ignored it because the state government was providing them almost 24x7 electricity to the parched at the cost of rest of Karnataka. Inks, cowdungs were smeared on faces of businessmen but they did not have alternative city to go were government was ready to provide facilties. How many cases of linguistic moral police entering an office & beating people we have heard in Mangaluru?
Coming to moral police, anyone seen movie
Sairat or Manasu Malligey? A movie of honour killing. A ditto love story. If I remember correctly lovers were from Shivajinagar area. Both lovers were killed leaving lone child orphan. Those were fledgling days of IT/BT industry in the parched city. But the IT/BT units in the parched city didn't cry we are afraid of honour killings. They didn't stop coming to the parched city. When all research facilities are centred in one city why should they go to anywhere else?
Linguistic moral police (should they be called just linguistic police?) hurt feelings of Hindus by defoiling sign boards with Devanagari script, the script which Hindus consider as sacred. Nobody cried the parched city is infected by linguistic moral police and IT/BT will flee. Why? They knew that the state & the central governments is least interested in developing infrastructure & eco system in other cities of Karnataka. Okay, the state government has now started drama of opening innovation hubs and is saying that is enough for creating eco system. And we still vote for these politicians who force us to shift to the parched city for jobs. We shift and purchase homes sold by real estate mafia at an extrodinary price. No doubt number of voters in Dakshina Kannada is falling -

There is one more silicon valley in South India. Coming to that there was a big protest against a movie named
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. In many theatres of the city including one in Abids show was stopped. You know if the people are moral policing against a story of a movie (not even historical one) you can imagine what kind of moral policing going on in the darkness of reality.
Moral Policing is just an excuse uttered again and again by politicians aligned with real estate mafia of the parched city. It is just the number of research institutes the central government built in the parched city which is driving the IT/BT units to open offices there. The nexus of 70 years between political parties and the real estate mafia of the parched city which created this mammoth city. That is all!
We have to wait & see what will happen as all kinds of 'secular forces' are trying to join hands together for 2019 General Election.
It is just wastage of time to discuss on Moral Policing. We have to discuss more on relevant research & training facilties to be shifted to Tulunadu from the parched city for boosting the IT/BT growth here. Unless we do this Westernghats going to be burdened with projects to feed water to the parched city. Remember when Westernghat goes down it will not go down alone without taking Karnataka with it!
