Actually Paul, that 16th largest number you've listed for Austin is the city proper population, not the metro population. The metro population rank is around 35th to 37th. So of course Austin isn't larger than San Antonio. Not sure where you were going with that one.

San Antonio city rank: 7th in US - San Antonio metro rank: 27th in US.
Austin city rank: 16th in US - Austin metro rank: 37th in US. (Although, the Austin numbers are from 2006). I would guess we might have moved up one or two spots just as San Antonio did.
