Carter Reviews 1399 Park Avenue, East Harlem's New Residential Landmark is Now 40% Sold

Quote:
From an unassuming lot overlooking the Park Avenue viaduct is rising 1399 Park Avenue. The well-underway 22-story project will hold 72 condos offering far-reaching views of Central Park and the skyline. The project is being developed by Heritage Real Estate Partners who spent years assembling the site located at 104th Street, one avenue over from Mount Sinai’s hospital campus.

Hill West Architects (HW) are the designers and have shaped a glass and cast-stone-clad structure that staggers significantly as it rises. According to their page, the building rises through a “Mondrian-like” composition of interlocking cubes suspended from a solid vertical spine. Our architecture critic, Carter B. Horsley recently reviewed the building’s design and units. He likens the exterior to the Perkins Eastman-designed complex for Memorial Sloan Kettering and the Hunter College School of Nursing.
