Maybe they realized their views would be limited to the south because of the Four Seasons Residences, so they decided to orient to have western views toward the hill country. Other potential reasons might be a courtesy to the Four Seasons to not block their northern views while also blocking a bigger portion of the Fairmont's western hill country views because they'll be competing hotels.
