I hope this works out, the Northside neighborhood needs it. I also hope the a$$holes who did the vandalism eventually get caught. Stuff like that hurts the whole area.

Efforts to bring a grocery store to the Fall Creek and Northside neighborhoods have not been abandoned, says John Petito, whose family is working to establish Neighborhood Pride grocery in the location of a former P&C in the area.

Petito, who will manage the store, said finding a bank to back the project required him to go out of state to Square 1 Bank of North Carolina. He said he hopes to be able to announce an opening date soon, pending closing on the loan.

The Petitos have experienced several setbacks in establishing the store since announcing the project in July 2010, including two instances of vandalism, a mess left in the building by its former occupants, and a local bank withdrawing its support, followed by a long search for a new lender.
