Getting any kind of successful development of this property will be a difficult proposition. My brother worked at this factory before Emerson moved to Ohio(I think) for consolidation purposes.

Nibbles but no bites for the Emerson building

Developers interested in the Emerson Power Transmission building continue to visit the site, said City of Ithaca Deputy Director for Economic Development Phyllisa DeSarno.

DeSarno said several agencies, including the city's planning department, Tompkins County Area Development, and the Town of Ithaca, are working with developers to find a buyer for the site.

"It's complicated, but there are people who are continuing to look and who are talking to the Emerson people," DeSarno said.

Developers she has spoken to are interested in turning the building into a mixed-use site, but other developers may see other uses for the building, she said. Emerson closed the former factory in December.
