This is an interesting story about VIA changing from an outdated bus service into a mutli-modal transportation that revives the inner-city by introducing light rail, street car, and bus rapid transit.
Read that this morning, good stuff. I get from the story that the Streetcar line will be a go regardless. I think that is a good idea to go ahead with that.
I've noticed in the past few months the difference in people in and around the core area. I've noticed a sizeable increase in bike ridership, walkers, and locals just browsing around the Museum Reach; it was pretty crowded down there yesterday afternoon. I think the interest is there, we just need a residential project to get moving. The Pearl is creeping along slowly and thats good during this slow building period. BTW, I also noticed that they started shoveling dirt at the site of the Pearl Ice House.
