New downtown Saskatoon library could cost $154M, open in 2026

"The new central library is estimated to be 149,000 square feet and includes a larger collection, indoor and outdoor green spaces, a mix of quiet and animated spaces, expanded Local History space, technology-centred learning and innovation spaces, and public meeting and gathering spaces," according to the business case released Wednesday, which was originally slated for release this past spring.

I was just at the downtown one a few days ago and I walked out with nothing. It's so hard to find anything so I went on my phone to search for the book I wanted on their website, was all withdrawn, and if I wasn't being followed by someone that wanted to mug me I was being followed by a security guard lol. The music that they've added to deter the loiterers there is great news for that area - I'm always scared to walk by the library. As someone that lives and works downtown, I avoid that street, and the street in front of the lighthouse. Both need orchestra music just like the downtown library has now down.
