Excellent post on the silent film locations jumbo0.

Here's another still from 'Hats Off" (1927)

"After being last publicly shown in Germany, Hats Off vanished without a trace, and is now considered a lost film."

The film featured the famous washing machine up the stairs routine. (below)

Steps between 923 & 935 Vendome Street, Silverlake.

Hats Off was remade by Laurel and Hardy as The Music Box utilizing the same flight of steps. While a washing machine was delivered in Hats Off, a piano would be delivered
in The Music Box.

Contrary to popular belief, the long staircase is not the same one used by the Three Stooges in their 1941 film An Ache In Every Stake. Those stairs (147 steps) are approximately two miles northeast, located at 2212 Edendale Place.

p.s. I posted about the stairs many years ago on NLA, but I can't remember if it was the washing machine scene or the piano scene.
(and i certainly didn't realize Hats Off was a lost film )
