One of CPS Energy’s goals was to maintain a downtown presence while helping spur further development and creating a space conducive to recruiting a new generation of employees. A preliminary sketch shows a glass-and-metal exterior and a multistory parking garage.

“We’re bringing another 400 employees down to the downtown area, so just in that area you might see restaurants and gas stations and other service providers that might come in because there’s going to be a need,” said Paul Flaningan, senior director of corporate communications and marketing. “Even to that micro-level of development that we’re looking to spur down there … that whole area is probably set for some revitalization.”
