So the Saputo Cheese plant downtown is finally gearing up for some construction work. Though it sounds like by the Advocate article, the 'highrise style" structure has been scrapped and replaced with thee 75 foot tall 'silos'. Although, the city's planning commission stated that the new design will have a "less industrial look" whatever that means, since the early design doesn't look industrial at all.
It's somewhat disappointing, since it's trading off a 35 meter or so building for a trio of silos. XD
Though what's odd is that the mayor said this about new project (quote): “I think this application not only accommodates business expansion, it transitions us into a more commercial aesthetic.” whatever that means. It's not like industrial silos fit in to a downtown setting, but whatever, they may put up a render when the site gets set up in the coming months. ugh, these silos' are going to be even taller than Telus's downtown office building, so they're going to be a very prominent eyesore- I MEAN feature.
